题一：
In the past, senior middle school students were heavily burdened with all kinds of homework. Because of various examinations, they spent about 6.5 hours in their classroom a day. At home, about 3.5 hours was spent on their homework and therefore most of them got less than seven hours’ sleep a night, with only about three hours’ free time for other things. As a result, their health was badly damaged.
Now things are getting better. About five hours is spent in class and hours for homework is shortened to about two so that they can have two more hours’ sleep and also two more hours’ free time to do whatever they like.

I’m Li Hua. Today, I’m greatly honored to speak here on behalf of my school. I’m going to talk about the high school education of my city.
From Chart 1, we can see high school students are from different family backgrounds. Besides local students, who make up 91 percent, eight percent of the students are the children of non-local workers. There are even 1 percent foreign students.
According to chart 2, the students’ choices after graduation have presented a wider variety. Sixty percent of them intend to go to university. Thirty percent choose to enter vocational schools, and the rest ten percent plan to go abroad for further studies.
（1）I think we have more freedom to choose what we would like to do after graduation. Going to college is no longer the only choice for most of us as it was years ago.
OR:（2）I think our city government has made more efforts to help the non-local workers. For example, their children can enjoy the equal right of a good education with the city students.

The New grading system in Our School
In order to help students develop their abilities in all fields, our school now has asked the teachers to make some changes in the grading system. This chart shows how it works.
The students’ final score will be made up of 5 parts. About 30% of it will come from their test results. The rest of the score is decided by the performances of the students in the following parts: 20% comes from your notes, and another 20% is decided by how you do your homework. If you take an active part in classroom activities, you can get another 20% of the score. Teamwork in class is also important. If you want a higher score, you should be good at working together with your classmates.
In my opinion, our school has made a good decision. To begin with, this new grading system has changed the way the students’ performances in school only depended upon their test results. Secondly, it will certainly help to improve ourselves in many ways.

The 2010 Spring Festival Gala has set records for TV commercial rates, which accordingly has caused heated discussions due to product placement in the programmes.
As is shown in the pie chart, 20% of the people surveyed think it acceptable, for the product placement appears in the programmes naturally. And 15% of them consider it necessary for CCTV to make money from product placement, which is of great benefit to the development of CCTV itself.
However, among the people surveyed, more than one third of them complain that the product placement has nothing to do with the programmes. 25% of them even feel hurt seeing so much of it. Furthermore, the rest 10% hold the view that great harm has been done to the image of CCTV.
From the chart we can draw a conclusion that most of the people surveyed are against product placement in the programmes. In my opinion, product placement nowadays is almost unavoidable, but it should not damage the art of the show and should take the audience’s feelings into account.
题五：
Recently, a survey has been done by our school Students’ Union to find out what impressed the students most about the Beijing Olympic Games. The results are shown below.
More than half of the students, to be exact, 60.4%, are deeply impressed by the excellent performances of Chinese Athletes. On the other hand, 26.1% of the students can’t forget the grand and fantastic Opening Ceremony, which almost doubles the number of those who think the successful organization of the Beijing Olympic has impressed them the most.
In my opinion, the Beijing Olympic has been a successful one in every aspect, including the performance of the Chinese athletes, the Opening Ceremony and the organization.
题六：
Ways to Spend the Weekend
As can be seen from the chart, senior three students have different ways to spend their weekends. Going back home and having a good rest is what most students would like to do, while 25% students choose to study at school during weekends. The fewest students , accounting for 15% , take outdoor activities to spend their weekends.
Various reasons are responsible for their different choices. Those who choose to go back home believe that a good rest does help them relax and work more efficiently during the school time. Outdoor-activity lovers hold the opinion that taking exercise is a wonderful way to refresh themselves. However, a small number of students living far away from home tend to stay at school to save every minute to study.
Personally, despite the heavy study pressure, senior three year doesn’t necessarily mean studying all the time. Sometimes a good rest and proper exercise can be of vital importance.

Recently, we have had a discussion in our class about whether parents are our best teachers . Some students agree to the point because they think parents help to point out their mistakes in their lives. They teach them a lot about how to live a meaningful life. What’s more, parents’ love helps to teach them how to love others, So parents are their most important teachers .
However, not all of us hold the views, Some think that their parents give them too much love, and they are too eager to pass on their values and interests to them. Moreover , their parents some times expect too much of them, which makes them feel their goals too difficult to reach.
In my opinion , parents are our important teachers, But parents should also try to understand their children more and limit the generation gap .
