  第2期Practice听说训练录音材料

  Part A: Reading Aloud

There is so much I have not been; so much I have not seen. I have not thought and have not done or felt enough — the early sun, rain and the seasonal delight of flocks of ducks and geese in flight, the mysteries of late-at-night. I still need time to read a book, write poems, paint a picture, look at scenes and faces dear to me. There is something more to be of value — something I should find within myself— as peace of mind, patience, grace and being kind. I shall take and I shall give, while yet, there is so much to live for— rainbows, stars that gleam, the fields, the hills, the hope, the dream the truth that one must seek. I’ll stay here — treasure every day and love the world in my own way!

  Part B:Role Play

  R=Robbie; M=Mike

M: I had an interview today, too. I had a great interview with Admissions at Columbia University.

R: Really? What did they say? Will you get into the school?

M: Well, they didn’t say anything for sure. But I figure that with my grades and with my personality, I’ll have no problem.

R: Columbia’s a terrific school. What are you going to do?

M: Do? I don’t know. I also applied to NYU.

R: You sound excited about Columbia. What’s your problem, Mike?

M: Indecision. Indecision. It’s not easy, and this is an important decision we have to make. What about you? How was your interview with Michigan?

  R: The interview was fine.

  M: It’s a great college.

R: It is. My father would like me to go there. He and my Grandpa both went there.

  M: Great medical school, too.

  R: I know.

M: You can follow in your father’s footsteps.

R: Ah! I’d like to follow in my own footsteps, Mike.

  Part C:Story Retelling

There was a man who had a little boy that he loved very much. Every day after work the man would come home and play with the little boy. He would always spend all of his spare time playing with the little boy.

One day, while the man was at work, he realized that he had extra work to do for the evening, and that he wouldn’t be able to play with his little boy. But, he wanted to be able to give the boy something to keep him busy. So, looking around his office, he saw a magazine with a large map of the world on the cover. He got an idea. He removed the map, and then patiently tore it up into small pieces. Then he put all the pieces into his coat pocket.

When he got home, the little boy came running to him and was ready to play. The man explained that he had extra work to do and couldn’t play with him, but he led the little boy into the dining room. He took out all the pieces of the map and spread them on the table. He explained that it was a map of the world, and that by the time he put it back together, his extra work would be finished and they could both play. Surely this would keep the child busy for hours, he thought.

About half an hour later the boy came to the man and said, “Okay, it’s finished. Can we play now?”

The man was surprised, saying, “That’s impossible. Let’s go and see.” And sure enough, there was the picture of the world; all put together, every piece in its place.

The man said, “That’s amazing! How did you do that?” The boy said, “It was simple. On the back of the page was a picture of a man. When I put the man together, the whole world fell into place.”
