Ⅱ.阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)
A
By the year 2050 it is estimated that the world's population will reach nine billion. An interesting question:what happens when people in poorer countries manage to raise their living standard and demand more meat in their diet?Imagine trying to feed nine billion people with enough meat.In short,it's simply impossible.
Australian journalist and science writer,Julian Cribb, explains the challenges the world faces in feeding nine billion people by the year 2050.Cribb says there is a major problem in the current food system in the developed world,at least. As more and more people move towards city centres, the less and less they know about where their food comes from. Most think food simply grows on supermarket shelves, and they don't consider the environmental effects of food production.
Food has many hidden costs:huge volumes of water, energy use and land degradation(退化).
Consumers add their own costs by simply throwing away a lot of food. The figures for food waste in the West are staggering.
To solve this problem of public ignorance about food,Cribb suggests that food should be taught as a subject at primary school. This would help to create a future generation that could better deal with the world's coming food challenges. This powerful measure can help to raise a generation of educated consumers, more productive farmers, and so on.
Cribb offers other solutions and suggestions as well. One is to increase the funding for agricultural science, which has been falling by the wayside in recent years. He suggests organic farming should be understood on a scientific basis, changing people's thinking to one of a new form of “environmental agriculture”to get the very best out of organic farming systems. He says we should stop wasting food and learn how to grow food more cheaply. We should use less water,as water is one of the main inputs into food production.Cribb also suggests eating more fruit and vegetables.
26.In the second paragraph, one problem of the food system in developed countries is ________.

The belief that someone other than a glover's son from Stratford wrote William Shakespeare's plays is a theory that refuses to die.Doubters started questioning the true identity of the writer in the late 19th century.Ever since then, the theory of an alternate writer has attracted the interest of many scholars and researchers. Now,almost 300 Shakespeare doubters have made a very public plea to be taken seriously.
On September 10,Shakespearian actor Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylanc, made the “Declaration of Reasonable Doubt”,created by the Californiabased Shakespeare Authorship Coalition,an educational charity, focusing on raising the awareness of the Shakespeare identity question. The document asks the world of academy to accept that there is “room for reasonable doubt about the identity of William Shakespeare”and to start taking the research into who is really responsible for his works seriously. Some famous names, like Mark Twain,Charles Dickens and Orson Welles, also sent their support in a list of people who expressed their own doubts about the writer when they were alive.
At the heart of the problem is the fact that, for a man who was so prolific with his pen,Shakespeare didn't leave much evidence of his life behind. Most scholars accept that there is enough to prove that a William Shakespeare was born in StratforduponAvon, became an actor in London and came back to live in Stratford until his death in 1616.But that's where the agreement ends.Stratfordians,as they are known, believe that this William Shakespeare is the same man who wrote what would become known as the greatest body of literary works in the history of the English language. The AntiStratfordians say that there is,in fact, nothing solid linking Shakespeare with the plays, poems and sonnets addressed with the name.
Now the game of titfortat is still going on.Maybe, one day,the truth will come out.
31.What do we know about Shakespeare from the text?
A.There are many things about his private life in his books.
B.Many people thought he was not born in Stratford.
C.Some doubted that plays in his name weren't written by one person.
D.Some people doubt the identity of William Shakespeare.
【解析】 细节理解题。根据第一段介绍可知,从19世纪末开始,人们就开始怀疑莎士比亚的身份了。故本题选D。
