突破开放性作文的方法如下：
1、认真审题，确定要素。根据所提供的材料，确定情景及体裁，找出关键词，并选用正确的人称和时态。相对而言，人称比较灵活，考生应根据具体的材料来确定。拿本篇写作任务来说，所给材料已经明确给出主题——一对夫妇只生一个孩子的利与弊。从主题来看以第三人称写一篇议论文比交好。时态采用一般现在时为好。
2、合理想象，草拟用语。根据材料和关键词，发散思维，考生应尽可能运用自己熟悉的单词、短语或句型来灵活表达，避免单词、短语或句型等的重复使用。如本写作任务中，我们可能用到下列单词、短语：one couple，one child，advantages and disadvantages，single children，time and attention , the only child , spoil , finacial burden , lonely , communiacte , interact等：

2．表达自己观点时用到了personally , I hold the view that …被动句single children may be more spoiled，原因状语从句、定语从句、动名词复合结构以及1eave+宾语+宾语补足语leave the child less able m interact well with people of his or her own age.等的应用在一定程度上体现作者较为深厚的语言功底，同时又十分自然。
但文章也存在不足之处：
1．有明显的语法错误，如：第二段中的非限制性定语从句which make them more dependent on their parents.中的make应改为makes，因为which代替的是前面的整个情况。又如：第三段开头句子there seems to have some other problems这是there be句型的变型，所以have应改为be。
2．文章结束得太突然，使读者读起来感觉好像后面还有内容，最好再做个总结。
